Editing is a game changer.

Here are some before and after examples of the difference editing can make:

Podcast editing can transform an amateur recording into a professional audio production.

Consider your listeners. Would they prefer to hear you and your guests process your thoughts; with all the umm’s, ahh’s, ‘like’s’, ‘you know’s’, vocal ticks, stutters, pauses and restarts included? Or would they rather listen to a smooth, concise, natural conversation, without all the filler?

Editing can be simple or complex, and it is extremely powerful.

Editing can be used to remove silence, or ‘dead air’ to borrow a radio term. You can edit out unwanted noises, unwanted words, sentences, paragraphs, and people. You can rearrange audio to tell a story in a different way, or to tell a different story entirely. You can make someone sound smart, dumb, funny, or boring. You can make a slow conversation more concise, or you can give a rushed conversation some space.

A professional podcast edit will sound totally natural to your listeners, they won’t even notice it’s been edited because they’ll be so focused on your content.

Represent yourself, your guests, your business and your brand in the best way possible by producing content you can be proud of, which results in higher listener retention and higher engagement.

Precision Podcasting offers two types of editing to suit different styles and needs of podcasters, read on to discover which is best for you.

Basic Edit

POA

We trim the start and end of the episode, add intro/outro and any advertising. We’ll also remove any long silences, clear restarts, and make limited specified timecode edits. This is a cost effective service that’s good for scripted monologue podcasts and storytellers.

Pro Edit

POA

Everything we do for a basic edit, but this service also includes expert removal of umm’s, ahh’s, stutters, vocal ticks, repeated sentences, and detailed editing for flow and pacing. Pro editing can reduce your episode length by 10% - 20% and provides a much more focused, professional sounding episode.

Included with every edit:

Noise Reduction - We’ll do the best we can to reduce things like hiss, crackle, and unwanted background noise. Of course, the best prevention is a quiet environment and clean recording signal chain.

Broadcast standard master - This will make sure your episodes are comparable in volume to other podcasts, and adhere to the accepted broadcast standards. It also makes sure your episodes don’t fluctuate in volume, so listeners in cars or on trains don’t have to keep turning up their volume!

ID3 tags - These identify your audio file using metadata, so that hosts and players can display the correct episode information, like Episode Title, Show Name, Season Number etc.
